Thing 13 – July 23, 2009

July 24, 2009 by wildwoodlibrary

I skipped ahead today so that I could work with my cohort.  They have been diligent while I have been on vacation.  I have some catch-up to do.

It took me over 2 hours to set up my social book marking page.  I tried Diigo but I couldn’t figure out how to make it work.  Delicious was much more user friendly.  I managed to import my bookmarks and have Delicious on my toolbar. Delicious seems much more user friendly.  This is an application that will be useful to me so that I can keep track of resources for the library as well as cool websites related to curriculum.

cupcakes Delicious!

Thing 7 (July 23, 2009)

The thing that interests me most is how to incorporate technology into the curriculum.  I think that some of these tools are blocked, like Flickr.  Google Earth has potential for use with class projects.  As I go forward, I will reading all the other blogs by 2.0-ers looking for ideas.

Things 5 and 6

July 23, 2009 by wildwoodlibrary

I am trying to upload a photo from Flickr.  Voila.  This took way too long to do.  And a word or warning – I added the Flickr widget to my blog just to see how that works and I ended up with samplings of Flickr photos on my blog, including scantily clad women.

Experimenting with Flickr

I have spent way too many hours trying to figure out how to navigate Flickr.  It seems that their server was down so that wasted alot of my time because I always assume that a technical problem is my fault.  I am trying to import a photo from Flickr so here goes:  no luck but I did import one from my computer.

Things 3 and 4

June 29, 2009 by wildwoodlibrary

I have my blog set up and my avatar in place.  There is so much to see and explore in Word Press that I feel functionally illiterate.  I am not sure how a blog will be useful to me as an elementary school librarian.  I don’t have the time to maintain a blog nor do I think that I would have an audience.  I think that I can use the school webpage and links off of the Destiny home page to provide all the information that the school community wants.  There would not be much return on the investment of time in a blog.

Thing 2: Blogging

June 22, 2009 by wildwoodlibrary

This is my first post!  So far, I have set up my blog and learned to link to my cohorts’ blogs.  I am so happy to have the support of my collegues.  There is such a steep learning curve with new technology.  I would never take the time to learn all this during the school year.
